Comment Title:: The Guad ruled.
Comments:    Onboard the Guadalcanal one of the best ships in LANTFLT. Just a little tale of the excellent training we had versus some of the other ships out of Norfolk I was walking up Pier 12 when the USS Whitney shore power hookups blew up a class C fire and explosion. The duty fire party from the Guad responded to their fire. Those guys had a lousy response and were going to stream water from one of the sponsons on the ship onto the shore power connections we stopped them from doing that and took care of extinguishing another ships fire. Every time we saw some guy wearing a Whitney hat we would have a good laugh.
